Yo lads 😎

Rare I ask a question but I’m just curious, heading down to the teens for my recoup, all things being equal, what’s the thoughts of getting down to say 15 as opposed 12% BF. Just wondering when it gets down that low, is there actually going to be much of a difference from where I always land on at 15 and getting down to 12. Just a curiosity question on the number that’s all 😎

Shout out to this guy @JayJay for his part in the continuing journey of our sport 😎

What do you plan to do after getting to your "goal %". Transitioning into a bulk at 15% is not a good idea, hell its not even a good idea at 12% but if you just want to hold that weight then just pick what ever you desire. Id focus more on being happy about how you look rather than being happy about an arbitary body fat measurement value

Hey bro 😎 thanks for replying. It’s a random question in the broader context for contest prep. Unfortunately, getting down to that level is part of the territory for maybe not all competitors but for me it’s where I need. Thanks bro 😎

The lower you get, the more you notice each little % decrease I reckon.

So from say, 16 to 14 won't be as apparent as 14 > 12 ... and even more so from say, 12 > 10.

I reckon most amateur competitors you see on stage in the Aussie IFBB shows etc would be around the 8% ish BF mark when they step on stage.
Once you're down at like 5% you're talking like, Olympia level shredded.

As a guess, I'd say that you could probably add a good 2% on top of what BF % someone thinks they are, at any given point.

Depends on the look you're going for I suppose.

You can bulk at any bodyfat, cut at any bodyfat, and maintain the same.

Just depends on your prefence so I wouldn't stress a % number and just go to a bodyfat that you think you look good at, can maintain without ridiculous restriction.

As for worth it? Really, 15 vs 12 is very noticeable imo, big difference. But you might get to 15 and be golden.

For example- and generally speaking here everyones different- but Abs are just an outline at 15% and by 12% you can really start to see each muscle. Obliques start appearing too.

Chest, shoulders and arm vascularity I notice a big increase too.

Hey mate, I’m down at 10% which took me about 18 months of solid cardio (mainly running) and restricting carbs, I was at 19% before. It’s quite high maintenance but I personally love the vascularity and having abs, being ripped on the beach etc

obviously depends what look you are after I would say a bit more commitment to diet gets you from 15% to 12% which is a big jump and worth it to reveal your hard work in the gym 💪

Cut to 10%, bulk to 15%, rinse and repeat.
As a bodybuilder there is little to no benefit in being greater than 15% body fat.
A small surplus is all you need to maximum hypertrophy.
That’s the safe bet and a general good guide.

I usually stay at around 10% year round. Anything lower and I need to constantly diet too hard..
